Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Sr. Scientist/Scientist. The ideal candidate is quality and process-oriented, flexible and must enjoy the challenges of working in a fast-paced, start-up company of diverse people and programs.

The Sr. Scientist / Scientist will be responsible for performing research and development experiments for projects, creating and applying solutions to meet the needs of predictive assays in oncology and translating scientific discoveries. Regularly exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals. Contributes to project process within scientific discipline through innovative research. The candidate will be an outstanding scientist, critical thinker and excellent communicator who will be comfortable working with complex and large data sets and presenting information in both large and small groups. The candidate will be an excellent project leader and make significant contributions to a fast-paced environment in the areas of cell biology and oncology.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize and implement robust and reliable predictive assays for oncology using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Coordinate activities of a cell culture lab: handling of primary tumor cells and tumor cell lines, bio-banking, evaluating and optimizing new culture conditions etc.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analysis.
  • Contribute to project process with scientific discipline through research.
  • Have open communication, positive interpersonal and teamwork skills, and timely, accurate maintenance of written reports.
  • Gather data from various resources, data warehousing and analysis for actionable interpretation.
  • Has full understanding of and the ability to apply established principles, theories and concepts in area of responsibility.
  • Adherence to Quality System.

Education and Experience

  • PhD or commensurate experience in Oncology, Cell Biology or a closely related field, with at least one year of post-graduate experience or a proven track-record of peer-reviewed publication and project management.
  • Extensive knowledge of cell culture techniques, cell-based assays, 3D cell culture, and data analysis.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing a project plan.
  • Prefer an innovator with a proven track record of excellence of development and implementation beyond proof of concept.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Troubleshoot effectively and solves scientific problems without supervision.
  • Search and adopt novel experiments/technologies.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance required.
  • Flexible team player, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willing and able to work within a Quality System with oversight by QA and other regulatory bodies. Experience working in a regulated environment a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Detail-oriented individual with above-average communication skills, both written and verbal.

The Research Associate is responsible for performing research and development experiments for projects and products in collaboration with others. Regularly exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals. Contributes to project process within scientific discipline through innovative research. Projects require the exercise of advanced technical discretion in the design, execution or interpretation of experiments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of a cell culture lab: handling of primary tumor cells and tumor cell lines, bio-banking, evaluate and optimize new culture conditions etc.
  • Contribute to project process with scientific discipline through research.
  • Work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Have open communication, positive interpersonal and teamwork skills, and timely, accurate maintenance of written reports.
  • Analyze data and interpret results.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.
  • Adherence to Quality System.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Requires BS in a scientific discipline.
  • Requires 1-3 years of related laboratory experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Should have experience in cell culture techniques and general molecular and cell biology skills.
  • Background in cancer biology and/or cellular signaling pathways required.
  • Troubleshoot effectively and solves scientific problems with supervision.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance required.
  • Must have ability or experience to read and understand relevant scientific literature.
  • Willing and able to work under the pressure of deadlines and find solutions to meet timelines.
  • AFlexible team player, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable using computers, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, and internet.
  • Willing and able to work within a Quality System with oversight by QA and other regulatory bodies. Experience working in a regulated environment a plus.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
